YOUNG FILIPINO ARTIST TO HOLD FIRST SOLO EXHIBIT IN NEW YORK
YOUNG Filipino artist Joshua Villena announced the launch of his first art exhibition in New York City.
Villena said the exhibit will feature his “Apollo Street” collection which incorporates fashion, NFTs and digital media.
The artist describes it as an atypical art style detailed by ragged lines and bold strokes.
Villena’s potential in art was realized when he was only 8. He also bagged numerous wins in national art competitions in the Philippines, United States, and around Europe.
His work has been featured in New York, Canada and Paris, among others.
Aside from being an artist, Joshua was an outstanding student at iACADEMY, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation.
During his stay at iACADEMY, he bagged multiple awards at Tarlac National Painting Contest, ASEAN FEUture On-the-Spot Poster-Making Contest, which was sponsored by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, and the ASEAN 52nd Founding Anniversary Poster-Making contest, where he won first prize.
“It has been a joy to finally be able to share my art to the world with Apollo Street, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my loving family, friends, and the iACADEMY Community. iACADEMY has supported me since day one and I always say that I wouldn’t be where I am today if they hadn’t believed in me and offered the Vanessa L. Tanco – Presidential Scholarship. To launch Apollo Street, my upcoming show, is also to pay tribute to all the people from iACADEMY who have supported and guided me through the years,” Villena said.
“We are truly proud to have witnessed how Joshua bloomed to be the artist he is today! This, among many other things, is why we at iACADEMY strive to provide the best education in a non-traditional way. We strongly believe that this enables our students to truly shine, just as Joshua has,” Vanessa Tanco, president and CEO of iACADEMY, said.
