EDUCATION Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio has encouraged civil engineers to create school designs that would be climate-resilient.

Speaking during the 49th Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers National Convention in Davao City, Duterte told the engineers to help the schools as a good number of classrooms were destroyed due to calamities.

“Bilang Secretary ng Education, hinikayat ko rin ang mga miyembro ng PICE na tulungan ang Kagawaran na bumuo at magdisenyo ng mga climate-resilient schools,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Ito ay dahil marami sa ating mga silid aralan ay nasisira dahil sa mga pagguho, bagyo, baha at armed conflict na naging sagabal sa pagkakaroon ng kalidad na edukasyon ng ating kabataang Pilipino,” she added.

She also encouraged PICE to give comments on the K to 11 and K to 12 curriculum reviews conducted by the Department of Education.

“Malaki ang inyong papel sa lipunan kaya patuloy tayong magtulungan para bumuo ng isang matatag na bayan,” the Vice President said.
