EDUCATION Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio led the Araw ng Pagbasa celebration at Esteban Abada Elementary School in Quezon City on Tuesday, November 21.

This initiative is aligned with DepEd’s MATATAG agenda, aiming to deliver quality education to students.

The theme of the program is “PAGBASA: Pag-asa sa MATATAG na Kinabukasan,” focusing on encouraging both public and private schools to participate in the reading celebration.

As part of the initiative, DepEd will introduce Catch-up Fridays, dedicated to reading, health, values, and peace education.

Starting on January 12, 2024, reading will be the primary focus for all public schools every Friday.

“Patuloy po tayong mangampanya na siguraduhin natin na nag-aaral at makatapos ang ating mga anak dahil ang edukasyon ang susi sa magandang kinabukasan at makapagbabago ng buhay ng ating mga mamamayang Pilipino,” Duterte-Carpio emphasized.

The month-long celebration will culminate with a nationwide synchronized story-reading session on November 28.
