VALENZUELA SHOWCASES INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

/ 2 March 2026

VALENZUELA City Mayor Wes Gatchalian reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to inclusive education as he welcomed Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara during a visit to key public schools highlighting the city’s expanded education programs.

“Inclusive education is what every child deserves. If we can build modern facilities, we can certainly ensure that no child is left behind—regardless of status in life or ability,” Gatchalian said.

Angara personally visited Malinta Elementary School and the Valenzuela Special Education Center, where local officials showcased initiatives aimed at strengthening not just classrooms but the entire education system.

Gatchalian said the visit underscored the strong collaboration between the city government, the national government, and private-sector partners in advancing quality education in Valenzuela.

Among the highlighted programs was the distribution of 80 laptops to four schools to boost students’ information and communications technology skills.

The city also expanded its Enhanced K to 6 Citywide Feeding Program to improve student nutrition and support academic performance.

Health services were brought directly to campuses through the Eskwelasugan medical vans, which provide on-site medical assistance to students.

Under the Batang MATAlinaw Program, children with vision problems receive free eyeglasses to help them keep up with their studies.

The mayor also emphasized the continued strengthening of ValSPED programs to better serve learners with special needs, reinforcing the city’s commitment to accessible and equitable education.

Gatchalian expressed gratitude to Angara for supporting Valenzuela’s education initiatives, noting that national backing is crucial for sustaining and expanding local programs to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
