VALENZUELA DECLARES CRACKDOWN ON STREET GANGS; REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO YOUTH SAFETY

/ 23 July 2025

THE CITY Government of Valenzuela is intensifying its efforts to uphold peace and safeguard the youth with the launch of the “Bawal ang Street Gangs sa Valenzuela!” campaign at Gen. T. De Leon National High School.

Mayor WES Gatchalian, together with Task Force on Fraternities and Gangs Intervention and Prevention Action Officer and City Councilor Ghogo Deato Lee, led the event, which highlighted City Ordinance No. 1262, Series of 2025.

The ordinance strictly prohibits the formation, operation, and proliferation of street gangs, as well as the recruitment of minors into violent gang-related activities.

Also emphasized was Resolution No. 3467, which officially declares identified street gang members as persona non grata in Valenzuela City—banning them from public programs and formally denouncing their presence in the community.

“This is more than a policy—it’s a unified stand to protect our youth and preserve public order. We’re sending a strong message that gangs have no place in Valenzuela,” Gatchalian said.

City officials, school representatives, community leaders, and stakeholders expressed their solidarity by signing a symbolic commitment wall, reaffirming their support for a gang-free Valenzuela.

The campaign is part of a broader initiative to create safe spaces for the youth and strengthen community-based interventions aimed at preventing violence and criminal influence.

Public schools, barangays, and youth organizations are expected to play key roles in spreading awareness and ensuring enforcement of the ordinance.

The City Government also encourages residents to report gang-related activities and support efforts to rehabilitate affected youth.
