STUDENTS who want to pursue their college education in the United States were encouraged to apply for the 2023 College Prep Program of the US Embassy in the Philippines.

The 18-month program will give a “unique opportunity” for select students to receive tailored US college preparation, funding to offset the cost of their preparation and travel for Academic Year 2024-25.

Students will also be given advice on applying for financial aid.

“The EducationUSA College Prep Program prepares highly qualified Filipino high school juniors to apply to colleges and universities in the United States. The College Prep Program is geared towards students who are likely to be awarded financial aid from US colleges and universities, but who lack the financial resources to cover upfront costs,” the embassy said.

“The program provides mentorship, coaching, and college prep assistance. Activities include SAT and ACT test prep and practice tests, TOEFL and English language test prep, coaching sessions on essay writing, college applications, researching colleges and scholarships, and other college prep advising,” it added.

Participants will be helped with the upfront costs of applying such as test prep materials and application fees.

To qualify for the program, a student must have an excellent academic transcript, and have a demonstrable family income of below P1.25 million per year.

The deadline for the application is on February 10, 2023.
