UNIVERSITY of the Philippines College of Law Dean Atty. Darlene Berberabe has been appointed as the new Solicitor General of the Philippines.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. named Berberabe to the post, succeeding Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra.

Berberabe previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Pag-IBIG Fund during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III.

She was also recently interviewed by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for the position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, following the retirement of Justice Mario V. Lopez.

Guevarra held the position of Solicitor General beginning in June 2022.

Prior to that, he served as Senior Deputy Executive Secretary under President Rodrigo Duterte and was later appointed Secretary of the Department of Justice in April 2018.
