TRAINING CENTERS URGED TO OFFER CONTENT CREATION TRAINING

/ 3 February 2024

TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority is urging the creation of training centers to offer content creation courses to inspire more Filipinos to tap into lucrative online livelihood opportunities.

TESDA Director General Suharto Mangudadatu said the agency has developed the competency standards on Content Creation (Social Media) Level III which may be used as bases by institutions to prepare suitable training programs.

Mangudadatu acknowledges the need for quality training for the increasing numbers of content creators, especially on how they develop and convey their messages, and on the quality of materials they upload across various social media platforms.

“Virtual networks and communities have enabled us to connect with our audience, build brand awareness, and strengthen engagement. However, the effectiveness of our efforts relies heavily on the quality and relevance of the content we share. In light of this, our content creators must be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce compelling and engaging content,” Mangudadatu said.

By providing them with quality training programs, Filipinos interested in producing their digital materials can learn the skills they need to make the most of online livelihood opportunities using readily available technology and mostly in the comfort of their own homes.

“I am encouraging tech-voc providers to offer courses on content creation using this new competency standard. Many of our kababayans are very talented and resourceful, and I am confident that if given the right skills, they will be better positioned to create content that resonates better with their audience, foster meaningful connections, and ultimately contribute significantly to society,” the TESDA chief added.

The standards were developed by TESDA in coordination with the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc.

This qualification aims to teach the skills needed to produce and distribute content on social media platforms to inform or entertain an audience across social media platforms. It emphasizes coming up with ideas for social media posts, turning those ideas into multimedia content, and spreading those ideas.

The core competencies for the qualification include creating concepts for social media posting, translating concepts into multimedia content, and propagating content.
