TOTAL VAPE BAN IN SCHOOLS SOUGHT
SENATOR Pia Cayetano has filed a bill seeking to prohibit the possession and use of heated tobacco and vapor products in all educational institutions nationwide.
The proposed legislation will cover all public and private learning institutions—including schools, colleges, universities, training centers, and vocational schools—under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and TESDA.
The ban will apply to all individuals on campus, including students, teachers, non-teaching staff, school officials, administrators, parents, service providers, and visitors.
Violators will face strict penalties:
Students will be sanctioned based on their school’s code of conduct.
Teachers and staff may face administrative charges and fines of up to ₱10,000.
Visitors caught vaping will be fined, removed from the premises, and blacklisted.
Educational institutions that fail to enforce the ban could face permit suspensions and fines of up to ₱100,000.
Senator Cayetano emphasized that the measure is intended to safeguard the health of students.
“This is about the health and safety of our students. Vaping is not harmless, and we must act decisively to keep our schools vape-free,” she said.
