TESDA NCR MARKS 29th ANNIVERSARY
THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-National Capital Region kicked off its 29th anniversary celebration through a job facilitation activity in Mandaluyong City.
The five-day event from August 22 to 29 highlighted the celebration of the National Tech-Voc Day, pursuant to Republic Act 10970.
A total of 1,773 TVET enrollees and graduates from the National Capital Region packed the Megamall Event Center on August 22 either to enroll in various training programs or apply for job vacancies. Twenty-five were hired on the spot while 477 were considered “near hires.”
This year, the featured sectors in NCR were Construction, Manufacturing, ICT and Tourism. Twenty-three companies participated in Jobs Linkaging, which included Steel Center, Founder Service Corp. (formerly Sitel) Shogun ships Co., Inc., Beta Electromechanical Corp., EEI Corporation, WE Support Inc., Teleperformance Phils., Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp., San Miguel Integrated Merchandising Services Inc., San Miguel Foods, SMC Multi-Service Inc., Process Synergy Inc., CF Sharp Crew Management Inc., DM Consunji Inc., Victoria Court, EEKRIS Solutions, Entrego, Thermis Enterprise Inc., Sentine Development Corp., Alorica, Starbreaker Corp., and Magsaysay Maritime Corp.
Other frontline services were also provided by partner agencies such as Philhealth, SSS, and Pag-Ibig.
Skills demo on bartending, flairtending, basic life support and first aid response, cooking balloon making were among the activities.
Industries also participated in promoting skills for the future using Robotics, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics and Simulators for Heavy Equipment Operations, such as Hytec Power, Inc. and Hexatronics Marketing.
TESDA Director General Suharto Mangudadatu said the agency’s flagship program, TESDA Sa Barangay, will continue to address the social inequality.
“For our fellow kababayans, we need to speed up to provide TVET global competitiveness,” he said.
TESDA NCR Regional Director Jovencio Ferrer thanked all the TVET associations in NCR and the companies who joined the job bridging.
