TEACHERS NOW RECEIVE MORE ALLOWANCES
PUBLIC school teachers are now receiving increased allowances from the government.
Among these are the ₱10,000 teaching allowance under the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, a medical allowance of up to ₱7,000 for eligible personnel, the Special Hardship Allowance for teachers assigned to difficult areas, and a ₱1,000 annual incentive given every Teachers’ Day.
Private school teachers have also received a ₱6,000 increase in their annual salary subsidy under the Teachers’ Salary Subsidy of the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) Program.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the government has implemented an expanded career progression system that allows teachers to be promoted based on their qualifications.
A Department of Education (DepEd) order has also granted teachers 30 days of vacation service credits to help ease their workload and improve work-life balance.
Meanwhile, the government aims to create 60,000 new teaching positions, with ₱114.39 billion allocated under Fiscal Year 2026 for salaries and benefits.
