TEACHERS NOT READY FOR OPENING OF CLASSES- ACT

/ 30 July 2020

TEACHERS are not yet ready for the opening of classes on August 24.

Alliance of Concerned Teachers Secretary-General Raymond Basilio stressed the point in an interview with The POST.

As per the survey made by ACT, only 37 percent answered that they are ready for the opening of classes next month.

He also claimed that teachers who do not have modules should be provided by the Department of Education, instead of creating their ‘alternative modules.’

Quality education, according to Basilio, will be hard to attain if materials are lacking.

The group also called for funds and to ensure the health and safety of the students and teachers.

In line with this, Ang Probinsyano party-list Rep. Ronnie Ong said in an interview that there were plenty of complaints from parents and they remain ‘clueless’ on the plans for the students.

The head of National Parent Association Willy Rodriguez, on the other hand, said teachers, parents and students are ready for class opening on August 24.

“Yes, handa na sila for August 24. On blended learning, it’s the only way and it must be supported by everyone,” he said in an exclusive interview.

He also added blended learning will be successful and 10 to 15 years from now, everyone will all be going online.

Despite these issues, DepEd said classes will push through on August 24.
