TEACHERS in areas under enhanced community quarantine will be given additional hazard pay, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.

She said that teachers will receive a P550 allowance daily on top of the special hardship allowance.

“Mayroong regular na hazard pay talaga, may Covid or wala. Even before Covid, if a teacher is assigned to a remote area, may standards ‘yan,” she explained in a Palace press briefing.

“Kung nadapuan ang teacher ng Covid, lahat ng serbisyo ng pamahalaan ay available for them,” she added, noting that the DepEd will not neglect the teachers because that is the policy of the government.

The DepEd is set to roll out limited face-to-face classes in selected schools on November 15.

So far, 59 public schools have been given clearance to hold physical classes.

These schools are in the provinces of Masbate, Antique, Cebu, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Saranggani Province and North Cotabato.
