TEACHERS, DEPED PERSONNEL URGED TO REGISTER FOR NAT’L ID
EDUCATION Secretary Leonor Briones urged all public school teachers and non-teaching personnel to secure a national identification card to make government services, especially in basic education, easier and more accessible.
Briones was one of the 894 individuals at the Department of Education Central Office who registered for the PhilSys ID.
“This is just one of many steps of DepEd in supporting the Philippine Statistics Authority in the rollout of the National ID campaign. We saw that having a national identification card would give Filipinos a convenient time transacting with government offices,” Briones said.
“Along with that, I would like to encourage the personnel from DepEd Regional and Division offices, schools, and other institutions to participate in this nationwide campaign once available in your localities as it gives us various benefits,” the DepEd chief added.
Days before the application, DepEd advised its personnel to pre-register for their preferred date and time for the on-site application to avoid overcrowding inside the venue.
The Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development – Personnel Division also reminded the personnel to secure the application form and requirement beforehand to ensure the smooth flowing of the queue.
Central office personnel were also instructed to follow stringent health and safety protocols during the entire process.
“We are very pleased and happy that the huge number of personnel have shown their participation for this event. This goes to show that having a national ID would be vital in government and non-government transactions,” OIC-Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Wilfredo Cabral said.
Applicants were given a form with a QR code that they will present upon the delivery of the ID.
