TAGUIG CITY ISSUES MEMORANDUM MITIGATING MEASURES ON SCHOOL DRESS CODE

/ 7 April 2024

THE Department of Education Taguig and Pateros have issued a memorandum adopting mitigation of measures on school dress code as part of their effort to combat extreme heat for students and teachers.

In the memorandum signed by Schools Division Superintendent Alejandro Ibañez, teachers can opt for polo shirts, while students are allowed to wear P.E. uniforms, jogging pants, and white shirts.

In addition, outdoor activities during peak heat hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. are strongly discouraged to prevent heat-related health risks among learners.

The local government of Taguig City also took proactive steps to combat extreme heat.

Mayor Lani Cayetano has ordered the Taguig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office along with the TOWER-Taguig Open Weather & Environmental Reporting System team to deliver daily, localized heat index reports tailored for each of the city’s 52 public schools.

“By understanding the local heat index, the community can take appropriate precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke,” Cayetano said.
