HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said that the introduction of a Tagalog course in Harvard University is a source of great pride for Filipinos.
He made the statement when he met members of the Filipino community in Massachusetts.
Romualdez delivered a policy speech at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government about the future of the Philippines and United States alliance.
Last March, the Department of South Asian Studies of Harvard University announced that it will offer a Tagalog course in their curriculum.
This will be the first time in Harvard’s 387-year history that it will offer a Tagalog course. Thai and Bahasa Indonesian are already being taught at the university.
Romualdez said Congress committed to build a stronger PH-US partnership.
He said the PH- US military alliance is iron-clad and economic relations are robust.
