SSS TO EXTEND BENEFITS TO JO, COS EMPLOYEES OF UP
THE SOCIAL Security System will extend social security benefits to the University of the Philippines’ contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) employees as part of its efforts to provide additional employee benefits to all UP personnel.
SSS President and CEO Rolando Macasaet and UP President Angelo Jimenez signed a Memorandum of Agreement on August 14 to formalize the partnership.
In a statement, UP announced that through the KaSSSangga Collect Program, the university will collect and remit the contributions of COS and JO personnel who authorize the university to process these with the SSS.
“Although we do not have direct employer-employee relationships with the concerned personnel, we aim to use our resources to help alleviate some of their worries, especially about their savings through social security coverage,” Jimenez said.
“Protecting the university’s future includes protecting the futures of our personnel as well,” he added.
The agreement also covers UP employees who are existing SSS members through private employment or self-employment and choose to continue paying contributions as voluntary members, UP noted.
