SPARK WANTS INCLUSION OF SEX EDUCATION IN K TO 12 PROGRAM
THE SAMAHAN ng Progresibong Kabataan demanded the inclusion of Sex Education, Climate Science, Modern Philippine History and Labor Rights in the revised the K to 12 curriculum.
The group made the appeal after several government officials advocated for the revision of the K to 12 curriculum.
SPARK said that a new curriculum must cater to the current needs of the country.
It added that the pioneer batch of the program should have a major role in the revision as they were the first ones to experience the new curriculum.
“Now that the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, and the government are coming to their senses to realize the flaws brought about by its rash implementation, students should be given a proper seat in the discussion as they are the main stakeholders and the ones that directly experienced learning under this curriculum,” SPARK said in a statement.
The group added that the curriculum failed to uphold its promise to create “job-ready” and “globally competitive” graduates.
