SOME officials of the Department of Education have submitted their resignation even before the turnover of leadership from Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to Sen. Sonny Angara.

When asked if there would be new assistant secretaries and undersecretaries, Angara said that he is yet to be certain.

“Well, hindi ko sigurado dahil ang balita ko, merong mga nag-submit na ng resignation pero hindi ko pa nakikita,” he said in a radio interview.

Meanwhile, asked if he has a leeway to appoint undersecretaries and assistant secretaries, he said that it would still be with the President’s approval.

“Idadaan pa rin po ‘yun sa Office of the President for approval…may mga protocols pa,” Angara said.

Duterte-Carpio filed her resignation on June 19 and would be vacating her office on July 19, after the 30-day transition period.

Angara said that he has yet to meet Duterte-Carpio on July 18 during the turnover ceremony.
