SOLON URGES YOUTH TO CHAMPION DIPLOMACY
HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez was recognized as a champion of international education after receiving the Internationalization of Education Champion Award during the opening plenary of the 33rd Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) in Taguig City.
The award was presented by WorldMUN founder Geraldine Acuña-Sunshine following his keynote address at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura.
Romualdez shared the stage with Harvard WorldMUN Secretary General Kevin Lin and Host President Tyler Javier, encouraging young global leaders to take an active role in addressing pressing international issues.
He underscored the importance of diplomacy as a tool for creating meaningful change and fostering cooperation among nations.
In his speech, the Speaker emphasized how diplomacy remains a vital force in resolving global challenges.
“We must empower the youth to embrace diplomacy, dialogue, and collaboration. These are the key elements in shaping a world that is inclusive, peaceful, and progressive,” Romualdez stated.
He called on the delegates to utilize platforms like WorldMUN to develop their leadership and negotiation skills.
Romualdez also highlighted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s foreign policy approach, describing it as a strategy of peace while firmly upholding Philippine sovereignty.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to engaging with other nations in a manner that protects national interests while fostering global cooperation.
The Harvard WorldMUN is one of the most prestigious international student conferences, gathering delegates from across the globe to simulate United Nations negotiations.
This year’s event, hosted in Manila, provides an opportunity for young leaders to tackle global issues through discussions, debates, and policy-making exercises.
As the conference commenced, Romualdez expressed his hope that the delegates would use their experiences to become catalysts for positive change in their respective countries.
“The world needs leaders who are compassionate, informed, and committed to making a difference. I believe the young minds in this room will help shape a better future for all,” he concluded.
