SOLON URGES PRIVATE SECTOR TO SUPPORT ENTERPRISE-BASED TRAINING FRAMEWORK
TO ADDRESS persistent job mismatches and unemployment in the country, Quezon City 5th District Representative PM Vargas has called on the private sector to actively support the proposed Enterprise-Based Education and Training (EBET) Framework Act.
Vargas emphasized the importance of collaboration between industries and educational initiatives to bridge the gap between skills and job opportunities.
“Employment and livelihood remain top concerns for Filipinos,” Vargas noted. He pointed out that although there are growing demands across various industries, workers need to be equipped with the right skills to meet these needs.
Through EBET, individuals will receive tailored training and education aligned with industry-specific demands.
According to Vargas, the EBET Framework has the potential to become landmark legislation. It aims to promote equal employment opportunities by enhancing workers’ competencies and skills through structured training programs.
The proposed law also offers benefits to companies. Under EBET, businesses that invest in worker training and apprenticeship programs will be eligible for a 50% tax deduction on their training expenses. This incentive is designed to encourage more companies to participate in workforce development while easing the financial burden of training costs.
Vargas believes that providing such incentives will attract more industries, including micro, small, and medium enterprises, to engage in the program. By doing so, these businesses will help produce high-quality manpower, which is crucial for driving economic growth and global competitiveness.
The EBET Framework underscores the importance of public-private sector collaboration in addressing labor market challenges. Vargas expressed optimism that with strong private sector involvement, the initiative will not only benefit workers but also boost productivity and innovation within industries, contributing to the nation’s overall economic development.
