SOLON PUSHES FOR TESDA CENTER IN CALOOCAN CITY
CALOOCAN City Second District Representative Mary Mitzi Cajayon-Uy has filed a measure establishing a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Training Center in the city.
In her House Bill 9964 or the proposed 2nd District of Caloocan City TESDA Training and Assessment Center Act, Cajayon-Uy stressed that the State shall promote a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from poverty through policies that provide adequate social services, promote full employment, a rising standard of living, and an improved quality of life for all.
“It is the policy of the State to provide relevant, accessible quality and efficient technical education and skills development in support of the development of high-quality Filipino middle-level manpower responsive to and by Philippine development goals and priorities,” the lawmaker said.
The bill intends to create a TESDA Training and Assessment Center in the 2nd District of Caloocan City to cater to students and residents from low-income families, out-of-school youth, and persons with disabilities.
Based on the measure, the center shall primarily provide technical and vocational education and training programs to students and residents.
The center, the bill said, may establish satellite and technology hubs, development farms, and incubators for start-up businesses and extension linkages to the private sector, and the academe.
