SOLON PUSHES FOR TEACHERS’ PAY HIKE, HEALTH BENEFITS

/ 21 September 2025

AS THE NATION marks National Teachers’ Month, Valenzuela City 2nd District Rep. Gerald Galang has filed two key measures aimed at improving the welfare of educators in both public and private schools.

The first, House Bill 4444, seeks to provide hospital and healthcare benefits for teachers and their dependents, ensuring access to medical services and financial support during health emergencies.

The second, House Bill 4500, calls for a ₱15,000 across-the-board salary increase for teachers and staff in the public basic education system, intended to raise their standard of living and recognize their critical role in nation-building.

Galang emphasized that teachers, who devote their time, energy, and care to shaping the country’s future generation, deserve fair compensation and proper healthcare support.

“Our teachers spend every day nurturing the minds of our youth. It is only right that we provide them with just wages and adequate health benefits,” Galang said during the month-long celebration.

If passed, the measures are expected to uplift the morale of teachers nationwide and strengthen the education sector by attracting and retaining quality educators.
