SOLON PUSHES FOR MEASURE TO PROVIDE GOV’T ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN PRIVATE EDUCATION
1-PACMAN Partylist Rep. Michael Romero has filed a measure providing for Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education.
Romero’s House Bill 10323 is pushing for the establishment of a fund for subsidizing the salaries of Private School Teachers.
In his explanatory note, Romero reminded that the Constitution mandates the State to support education through appropriate technology and research, adequate financial, production, marketing, and other support services.
He added that the State also hereby recognizes the complementary roles of public and private educational institutions in the educational system and the invaluable contribution that the private schools have made and will make to education.
The measure seeks to provide the mechanisms to improve the quality of private education by maximizing the use of existing resources of private education.
It also mandates to recognize the process of the government’s responsibility to provide basic elementary and secondary education as having priority over its function to provide for higher education.
