HOUSE Committee on Basic Education Chairman Roman Romulo has urged the government to implement reforms in education system in order to give more quality learning to students.
The lawmaker made the statement following slight improvement of Filipino learners in the latest Program for International Student Assessment.
“Matalino naman talaga ang batang Pilipino. It was the education policy, doon nagkaroon ng problema,” Romulo said.
“2022, kagagaling lang natin sa longest lockdown. Walang face to face at nag-adopt tayo sa Covid19,” the lawmaker explained while citing the slight improvement as significant changes in the learning outcome.
“Our learners, our teachers they held the line. Hindi man significant para sa iba ang pag angat natin, para sa akin, ibig sabihin nanatili po at umangat, napakasignificant nun,” Romulo said referring to the 2022 PISA result.
Romulo stressed the need for the Department of Education to seriously implement the Matatag Curriculum and other reforms in the education system.
