SOLON LAUDS PBBM’S P1B INVESTMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTERS
House Speaker Martin Romualdez welcomed President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s allocation of P1 billion for the construction of Child Development Centers (CDCs) in 328 low-income local government units across the country, calling it a move that brings real hope to Filipino families.
“This is what leadership looks like—simple, direct, and focused on delivering results,” Romualdez said.
“The President’s message is clear: no Filipino child should be left behind,” he added.
The P1-billion fund is part of the Local Government Support Fund under the proposed 2025 national budget.
It aims to improve access to early childhood care and development, particularly in underserved and impoverished communities that lack essential facilities.
Under a joint circular issued by the Department of Budget and Management and the Department of Education, LGUs can now apply for funding to construct CDCs.
However, LGUs are required to provide the land for construction, ensure the maintenance of the centers, and hire qualified staff.
Romualdez emphasized that this initiative reflects the Marcos administration’s commitment to inclusive development and nurturing the country’s future generations from the earliest stages of life.
“This investment is not just in infrastructure, but in the future of the Filipino child,” he said.
