SOLON HONORS TEACHERS AS PILLARS OF NATION-BUILDING
HOUSE Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III paid tribute to Filipino educators as the foundation of national progress, vowing continued support for their welfare and professional growth.
Dy acknowledged the immense challenges teachers face amid rapid technological and social changes, lauding their steadfast dedication despite limited resources.
“Despite the lack of facilities, the heavy workload, and the challenges of modern technology, you continue to be the light of hope and inspiration for our youth,” he said.
The Speaker emphasized that the House of Representatives remains committed to ensuring that the education sector receives adequate funding in the 2026 national budget.
He noted that the proposed ₱928.52-billion allocation for the Department of Education—equivalent to a record-high four percent of the country’s GDP—reflects the administration’s commitment to addressing classroom congestion, child malnutrition, and the shortage of learning materials.
“This amount is designed not only to address the sector’s immediate needs but also to lay the groundwork for long-term education reforms,” Dy said.
He further highlighted the Marcos administration’s continued support for teachers through improved benefits and allowances.
These include the ₱10,000 teaching allowance under the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, the ₱7,000 medical allowance for qualified educators, the Special Hardship Allowance for those serving in remote areas, and the ₱1,000 annual Teachers’ Day incentive.
The Speaker acknowledged that no monetary benefit could fully compensate for the teachers’ dedication and sacrifices.
“We know that these are not enough, because nothing can truly equal the time, effort, and sacrifices you make for your students,” he said. “We will continue to do everything we can to ensure you receive the support and recognition you deserve.”
Dy vowed that Congress would continue working to uplift the teaching profession through legislation and programs that promote fair compensation, better working conditions, and greater opportunities for professional growth.
