BATANGAS 2nd District Rep. Gerville ‘Jinky’ Bitriks Luistro filed a resolution urging action to improve educational standards and performance in Reading, Mathematics and Science among Filipino students.

In House Resolution 1532, Luistro endeavors to serve as a catalyst for positive transformation, creating an environment which not only cultivates the intellectual growth but also ensures the academic success of each Filipino student.

“In the spirit of unity, let us join hands in this noble undertaking, collaboratively working to construct a foundation that propels our nation towards prosperity and wisdom .Let us unite in our commitment to revitalize and enhance our educational system,” the solon said.

The lawmaker stressed the future of our nation depends on the knowledge and skills of the next generation.

“Together, let us work towards a Philippines that takes pride in the academic excellence of its students and stands as a beacon of progress in the international community,” the lawmaker added.

“As we assess the data presented in the 2022 (PISA) study, it is disheartening to note that the Philippines continue to lag behind other nations. In Reading, Mathematics, and Science. This is not a new revelation. But a stark reality that confronts us. It demands urgent attention, and decisive action,” the solon explained.

The report, Luistro added, highlights it despite the measures taken by the Department of Education in response to the 2018 PISA results.

“There has been no significant improvements in the average scores of Filipino students. In fact, our country’s performance in these crucial subjects, remains not just stagnant, but has regrettably worsened,” the lawmaker further said.
