SOLON ENUMERATES RECOMMENDATIONS TO UPLIFT TEACHERS’ WELFARE
ACT Teachers Party-list Representative France Castro enumerated anew some recommendations aiming to uplift teachers’ welfare.
As the Congress sets to begin deliberations on the 2025 proposed General Appropriations Bill, Castro reiterated the Makabayan bloc’s suggestion to allocate six percent of the country’s gross domestic product for education.
With this, the government will solve the backlogs in the education sector.
The solon is also urging the administration to overhaul K-12 curriculum to address the education crisis and students’ performances.
The lawmaker further stated that it is right time to increase teachers’ salary and wages and push for the regularization of contractual teachers.
In addition, Castro said teachers deserve to be given 15-day sick leaves and additional support for their heath and welfare.
The teacher solon also added that the government should also assure academic freedom will be respected.
