‘SILANG PAGLAOM’ CLASS OF 2026 PRODUCES 326 NEW CADETS, LEYTE NATIVE EMERGES TOP GRADUATE

/ 28 March 2026

A TOTAL of 326 cadets from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Silang Paglaom” Class of 2026 marched during their 47th commencement ceremony at Camp General Mariano Castañeda in Silang, Cavite on Friday.

Leading this year’s graduates is 24-year-old Police Cadet Van Marie Editha Gundaya Cagasan from Baybay City, Leyte.

According to the PNPA, Cagasan’s journey was fueled by a promise to her late mother, who had dreamed of seeing her march on stage and receive her diploma.

During her second year at the academy, her mother was diagnosed with cancer—forcing her to navigate the difficult balance between duty and family. She endured the emotional strain of not always being by her mother’s side while confined to the academy’s rigorous training environment.

At one point, Cagasan even considered leaving the academy to return home. However, she persevered and ultimately fulfilled both her duty and her promise.

Also among the top graduates of the class are Rank 2: Police Cadet Jhon Rhovic Gorobao Talagtag; Rank 3: Police Cadet Joanne Gwen Buscagan Huiso; Rank 4: Police Cadet Bienesto Fidel Aguilar Junio; Rank 5: Police Cadet Daryl Calingayan Lunag; Rank 6: Police Cadet Kharen Mae Mahinay Gulfo; Rank 7: Police Cadet Hazelyne Pearl Bartolome Magora; Rank 8: Police Cadet Mary Angel Rea Barbon Espida; Rank 9: Police Cadet Trixia Raye L. Ajose; Rank 10: Police Cadet Ed Cedrick Tesalona Julian.

The graduation marks a significant milestone for the cadets, who are set to join the ranks of the country’s law enforcement service.
