SENATOR SHARES ADVOCACIES FOR EDUCATION AND YOUTH

/ 2 April 2025

SENATOR Christopher Bong Go vowed to scale up programs aimed at uplifting the poor, especially in education and youth development.

“If given another opportunity to serve, I will bring more pro-poor programs to the people and provide ‘more service’ to my fellow Filipinos,” Go said.

In an interview, Go acknowledged the impact of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, signed during the Duterte administration, but seeks to expand the coverage of the Tertiary Education Subsidy to assist more students.

“If possible, especially for the poor, they should not have to pay for their education. Education is our investment until we grow old,” he said.

He has also co-authored and co-sponsored several key education laws to improve access to quality education.

As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Sports since 2019, Go’s tenure saw the country’s historic first Olympic gold medal wins, the successful hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, and consistently strong performances by Filipino athletes in international competitions.

He also authored and co-sponsored RA 11470, which established the National Academy of Sports in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.

As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Go actively advocates for policies that empower the younger generation, foster their participation in nation-building, and equip them to be productive citizens.

“We will continue serving you because public service is my passion, and I believe serving the people is also serving God and Allah,” Go emphasized.
