SENATOR SEEKS TO CONVERT SULU STATE COLLEGE INTO STATE UNIVERSITY
SENATOR Imee Marcos pushed a measure that will convert the Sulu State College into a state university to enhance its academic programs and expand research opportunities.
In Senate Bill 2319, Marcos proposed to convert the state college in Jolo, Sulu into Sulu State University.
The senator said that Sulu State College has provided tertiary education to thousands of students over the years.
“However, as we strive for the continuous growth and development of the field of higher education, it is imperative to elevate the status of Sulu State College into a state university,” Marcos said in her explanatory note.
Marcos is optimistic that the conversion will provide enhanced academic programs, expanded research opportunities, and a broader scope of services for the students and the community at large.
The lawmaker said that converting the state college into university will support and uplift the youth of Jolo.
