SENATOR SEEKS P20K SALARY HIKE FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian continues to champion the welfare of teachers by pushing anew for the passage of the Teacher Salary Increase Act, which proposes a P20,000 monthly raise for all public-school teachers nationwide.
As he filed a new set of priority bills for the 20th Congress, Gatchalian emphasized the importance of restoring dignity to the teaching profession through fair compensation.
“Bigyan natin ng nararapat na dangal ang ating mga guro sa pamamagitan ng makabuluhang pagtaas ng kanilang sweldo—bilang pagkilala sa kanilang sakripisyo at dedikasyon,” he said.
He also refiled the Revised Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, which seeks to strengthen and update Republic Act No. 4670 to better protect teachers’ rights and welfare.
Last week, Gatchalian filed another bill seeking to amend the Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994. The proposed amendments aim to enhance professional standards and widen the pool of qualified educators.
“Ang guro ang puso ng pagkatuto ng bawat mag-aaral,” he added.
