SENATOR SEEKS CLARIFICATION ON CANCELLATION OF LICENSURE EXAMS
SENATOR Pia Cayetano on Tuesday sought clarification from the Professional Regulation Commission on the cancellation or postponement of licensure exams.
Cayetano cited the physicians’ examination in Metro Manila that was scheduled on September 11 but was cancelled two days before it was to be held.
During the virtual hearing of the Committee on Civil Service, Government Reorganization and Professional Regulation, PRC Chairman Teofilo Pilando, Jr. said they were ready to conduct the examination as scheduled.
However, Pilando said because the implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine was extended in Metro Manila, the PRC was not allowed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to push through with the exams.
Cayetano said that cancelling the exams at such short notice is difficult for the examinees and examiners.
“To have to be told about these changes two days before, it’s really difficult. Whether you are for the cancellation or you are not for the cancellation, I am just saying that two days’ notice is a bit difficult even for the teachers and professors who are guiding their students,” Cayetano said.
The senator advised PRC officials to be in touch with schools.
