SENATOR PUSHES FOR EXPANDED HEALTHCARE BENEFITS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND STAFF
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian is seeking to expand healthcare benefits for public school teachers and non-teaching personnel, following Malacañang’s recent approval of a ₱7,000 medical allowance for qualified educators and staff.
Gatchalian stressed that providing medical assistance is crucial to safeguarding the well-being of education workers, especially as a new school year begins.
He emphasized that supporting their health is vital not just for their personal welfare but also for boosting morale in the education sector.
“This is a way to ensure that our teachers and school personnel are in good health and ready to take on the challenges of the academic year,” Gatchalian said.
“We need to protect their welfare so they can effectively fulfill their roles in shaping the future of our youth,” he added.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Department of Education and other relevant stakeholders to ensure sufficient and appropriate healthcare benefits under his proposed Revised Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.
The initiative is part of Gatchalian’s broader advocacy to strengthen support systems for educators and drive long-term improvements in the public education system.
