SENATOR PUSHES CONVERSION OF BULACAN AGRICULTURAL STATE COLLEGE INTO STATE UNIVERSITY

SENATOR Imee Marcos batted for the conversion of the Bulacan Agricultural State College into a state university.

She filed Senate Bill 2106 which seeks to  convert the state college into a state university for it to advance the education and professional development of students in agriculture and allied disciplines.

The BASC provides special programs in promoting services in the field of research, extension and graduate studies for progressive leadership in agriculture and allied disciplines.

The school has five campuses that provide higher professional, technical instruction and training to more than 4,000 students from different parts of Bulacan.

Under the bill, the BSAU shall offer undergraduate and graduate courses within its competency and areas of specialization in the fields of agricuture, forestry, veterinary medicine, agricultural engineering, geodetic engineering, fisheries, education, science and technology, arts and humanities, information and communications technology, and other relevant fields of study.

Last December, the House committees on Higher and Technical Education, Appropriations and Ways and Means approved a similar bill introduced by Representatives Lorna Silverio, Mark Go, France Castro, Eric Go Yap and Joey Salceda.
