SENATOR Francis Tolentino has sought the recognition of Philippine National Police Academy cadets as government employees.

During the hearing of the Commission on Appointments, Tolentino said that he hopes Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos can do something about the failure to recognize PNPA cadets as government employees for the last 20 years.

Tolentino also made the plea to Civil Service Commission Chairperson Karlo Nograles.

He described CSC Resolution No. 020122 which states that PNPA cadets are not government employees as deplorable.

Under Republic Act 6975 otherwise known as the Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990, the PNP is one of the bureaus and offices under the auspices of the DILG.
