SENATOR LAUNCHES ANTI-BULLYING ADVOCACY AMID RISE IN CASES
IN RESPONSE to the rising cases of bullying and mental health concerns among students, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has announced plans to personally lead a series of advocacy caravans aimed at raising awareness and educating parents and communities on how to address these pressing issues.
“We’re seeing a rise in bullying incidents, especially in schools. Mental health is also a serious issue, particularly among senior high school students,” Gatchalian said.
He emphasized the need for proactive measures to support students and their families.
According to Gatchalian, the caravans will serve as platforms to equip parents with the knowledge and tools needed to confront bullying and support their children’s mental well-being.
“These are personal advocacies that I will be pushing in the coming months to ensure that parents are better informed and prepared to respond to issues of bullying and mental health,” he added.
Gatchalian, a long-time advocate of education and child protection policies, also underscored the importance of community involvement in creating safe and nurturing environments for learners—both inside and outside the classroom.
