SENATOR HOPES EDUCATION SECTOR WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY IN 2023 BUDGET UTILIZATION
SENATE Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III is hopeful that the education sector will be given priority on budget utilization after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vetoed some provisions of the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
Pimentel said the President raised valid points in his veto message.
“I hope that the prioritization of the education sector as mandated by the constitution is really reflected in the budget law after the veto,” Pimentel stressed.
“Also, we still have to monitor how the budget is actually implemented,” he added.
One of the provisions vetoed is the use by the Department of Education of the revolving fund of DepEd TV.
Marcos said that there is no law authorizing the DepEd to establish a revolving fund.
