SENATOR HIGHLIGHTS ROLE OF SPORTS IN SHAPING YOUTH VALUES
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go underscored the importance of sports in instilling positive values such as teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and inclusivity among the youth, especially during the holiday season.
Go attended the opening of the City-wide Musabaqah Sports Activity, organized by the City Muslim Community Affairs and Development Office, to advocate for sports as a means of fostering unity, discipline, and camaraderie.
“Sports is not just about competition; it is about bringing communities together and promoting positive values that transcend the playing field,” Go said.
As chairperson of the Senate Youth Committee, he reiterated his advocacy: “Get into sports, stay away from drugs, to keep us healthy and fit.”
The event drew around 1,000 participants, including students, teachers, principals, and community leaders.
In appreciation of their participation, Go distributed tokens to attendees, encouraging them to support sports and community initiatives.
He also emphasized the importance of embracing the lessons learned through sports, whether in victory or defeat. “Success is not just about winning but about the relationships built and lessons learned during the process. Play with integrity, respect, and heart,” he said.
