/ 30 July 2025

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian on Tuesday welcomed the Marcos administration’s commitment to implement landmark education reforms aimed at addressing the country’s learning crisis.

In his fourth State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. mentioned key education measures authored and sponsored by Gatchalian, including the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program Act, the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act, and the Early Childhood Care and Development System Act.

The President also outlined steps to implement these laws—such as the continued rollout of tutoring and remedial programs, the deployment of more school counselors in public schools, and the construction of child development centers in underserved barangays.

Gatchalian also vowed to ensure that these programs receive adequate funding and support to guarantee full and effective implementation.
