SENATOR FILES MEASURE STRENGTHENING GOVERNANCE OF PSHS SYSTEM
SENATOR Juan Miguel Zubiri has filed a bill aimed at strengthening the governance and management of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System.
In Senate Bill 2902, or the proposed Expanded Philippine Science High School System Act, Zubiri seeks to provide more aspiring young scientists with the opportunity to receive quality education by increasing the number of PSHS campuses across the country.
“Allowing the establishment of up to two PSHS campuses in every region would give more students access to the world-class education and training that PSHS is known for,” Zubiri said in his explanatory note.
With this bill, the senator envisions the Philippines becoming a hub for innovative, future-oriented, and competitive scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, whose academic excellence is complemented by a strong commitment to public service.
Zubiri stressed that science, technology, and research are the backbone of all innovation and development.
“As we work towards becoming a more advanced society, we will need an army of well-educated and well-trained professionals. This is only possible if we provide our youth with access to high-quality education,” he added.
