SENATOR CONDEMNS NUEVA ECIJA SCHOOL SHOOTING

/ 9 August 2025

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian has strongly condemned the tragic school shooting at Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Nueva Ecija involving two minors, calling for swift justice and urgent measures to strengthen security in educational institutions.

“I condemn, in the strongest terms, the shooting incident at the Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Nueva Ecija involving two minors,” Gatchalian said.

“Paano naipasok ang baril sa eskwelahan? Paano napasakamay ng suspect ang baril? Gaano kahigpit ang seguridad sa paaralan?” he added.

The senator expressed frustration over recurring questions on school security, stressing that the tragedy could have been prevented through more proactive safety measures.

“I join our learners and the entire school community in their call for justice,” he said.

“I will work with the Department of Education to ensure that adequate security measures are in place to make our schools safer, including the deployment of security personnel and the installation of CCTVs,” he added.

Gatchalian reiterated that schools must remain safe spaces for students and educators, free from fear and violence.

“Walang lugar ang ano mang uri ng karahasan sa loob ng mga paaralan,” he said.

As investigations continue, Gatchalian’s call highlights growing concerns over student safety and the urgent need for tighter school security protocols nationwide.
