SENATE OKS CAREER PROGRESSION SYSTEM FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian hailed the Senate’s third reading approval of a bill that seeks to institutionalize the Career Progression System for public school teachers and school leaders.
Under the Career Progression System for Public School Teachers and School Leaders Act, or Senate Bill No. 3000, the career prospects of public school teachers and school leaders in teaching, school administration, and supervision are expanded.
“Sa ilalim ng panukalang batas na ito, mas mapapalawak natin ang mga oportunidad para sa promotion ng ating mga guro at school leaders, bagay na makakatulong sa pag-angat ng kanilang karera,” said Gatchalian, the bill’s sponsor.
The proposed measure mandates the Department of Budget to create the teaching position titles of Teacher IV, Teacher V, Teacher VI, Teacher VII, Master Teacher V, Master Teacher VI, School Principal V, Education Supervisor III, Education Supervisor IV, and Education Supervisor V.
The bill also provides that promotions within the base positions shall be non-hierarchical and based on the principles of merit, fitness, and competence, according to qualifications and professional standards.
The base positions are Teacher I and Master Teacher I.
