VARIOUS schools in the country participated in the fourth and last Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on Thursday.

Some of the schools who joined the earthquake drill were the Alabel National High School in Poblacion, Sarangani; Sta. Peregrina National High School in Pulilan, Bulacan; Talisay Senior High School in Batangas; Del Valle Elementary School in Quezon Province; Luis Y. Ferrer Senior High School in General Trias City and Pablo C. Capistrano in Bulacan.

The Department of Education Central Office said that the drill will prepare and teach students how to protect themselves in case an earthquake hit while they are in school.

“Ang pagsasagawa ng NSED sa DepEd Central Office ay naglalayong pagtibayin ang kapasidad ng mga kawani nito kaugnay sa mga paghahanda at hakbangin na dapat nilang gawin kung sakaling magkaroon ng lindol,” DepEd said.

“Kasama na rito ang ibayong pagpapaalala na gawin ang ‘duck, cover, and hold’ habang isinasagawa ang drill,” it added.

Also during the drill, education Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service Director Ronilda Co also shared knowledge on how to keep oneself and loved ones safe in the face of natural disasters.
