PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio’s “forthrightness” convinced him to appoint her as head of the Department of Education.

“The word that I keep using when I talk about VP Inday is ‘forthright’. Basta kung ano’ng sabihin niya, gagawin niya,” Marcos said.

“She’s also quite forceful. And the Department of Education is not an easy job to put together, especially since we decided that the face-to-face [learning] will go on in the next — in this upcoming, in this semester,” he added.

Marcos said that Duterte-Carpio was the ideal candidate for the position because of her “patient” mothering style.

Duterte-Carpio created a stir on Tuesday because of her post thanking the President for making available to her a helicopter of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing to make sure that she can tuck in her children at night no matter where she had been during the day.

Her spokesman, Reynold Munsayac, clarified that the vice president does not use the helicopter daily.
