THE CITY government of San Juan on Thursday distributed P3,000 cash assistance to all public school teachers in the city.

Mayor Francis Zamora said the money was given ahead of the World Teachers’ Day celebration on October 5.

“Thank you very much for educating our San Juaneño youth as we face this Covid19 pandemic head on. We truly appreciate your dedication and service!” Zamora wrote on Facebook.

World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is an international day held annually on October 5.

In the Philippines, a month-long celebration to recognize the significant role of teachers is held through the National Teachers’ Month starting September 5 before its culmination on October 5.

The Department of Education earlier announced that President Duterte has approved the release of the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit in the amount of P1,000 per public school teacher.
