VICE President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Monday that reverting to the old school calendar should be done gradually as she emphasized that the vacation of students cannot be compromised.

“Hindi natin puwedeng i-compromise ang pahinga ng ating mga teachers and ng ating mga learners. Hindi natin puwedeng idire-diretso dahil kailangan ng pahinga,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters.

Earlier, the Department of Education released an order regarding the gradual shift to the old school calendar wherein the classes run from June to March.

The School Year 2026 to 2027 will return to the June to March schedule as subsequent school years have also been modified.

“Ito ay resulta ng consultation natin, collective decision na ito based on our consultations, iyong reversion to the (old) school calendar,” Duterte-Carpio said.
