ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro on Wednesday welcomed President Marcos Jr.’s directive setting School Year 2024-2025 from July 29, 2024, to April 15, 2025.

Castro said this is a positive step towards addressing the concerns of our teachers, students, and parents who have long been advocating for a more humane and conducive learning environment.

“With this schedule, Saturday classes which is a cause for concern for students, teachers, and parents would be avoided,” Castro said.

The solon emphasized that while this is a welcome development, more needs to be done to address the long-standing problems plaguing our public education system.

“We must continue to push for substantial reforms, including the hiring of more teachers, the construction of more classrooms, and the provision of proper ventilation in all learning spaces,” she added.

“We also need to take decisive actions to address the climate crisis, which is having a devastating impact on our education sector and our people’s lives,” the solon stressed.
