PRIVATE SCHOOL TEACHERS RECEIVE AID
A FEDERATION of private schools expressed its gratitude to Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go for facilitating the grant of social amelioration aid for private school teachers.
“This is not a political propaganda; this is giving thanks where it is appropriate. FAPSA wishes to express its appreciation as the federation’s Facebook has been flooded endlessly by private school administrators expressing their happiness for having received the special amelioration cash incentive of P5,000 for each of their teachers,” Eleazardo Kasilag, president of the Federation of Federation of Associations of Private Schools Administrators (FAPSA), said.
“Finally, the flickering light at the end of the tunnel seemed to kindle anew for the neglected teachers in the private schools,” he added.
Kasilag said he knows that the aid stirred hope in the private school sector which has been suffering from neglect.
Kasilag said that 865 private schools closed down this year. The 107-year-old College of the Holy Spirit of Manila has also announced that it will close after school year 2021-2022.
Kasilag said the government provided assistance to workers but private school teachers and non-teaching personnel were not among the beneficiaries.
The Covid19 pandemic, Kasilag said, affected all private school teachers, prompting FAPSA to appeal to the office of Go.
The group also asked the inclusion of private school teachers in the social amelioration program under Bayanihan Act 2.
“We are happy that the small voice of the FAPSA private schools was heard through Senator Bong Go’s intervention,” Kasilag said.
